Huw joined Dyfed-Powys in March 1995, his first station being Cardigan where he worked as both a PC and DC. In 2001, he was promoted to Sergeant in Carmarthenshire where he performed roles in both uniform and CID.
In 2008, he was promoted to Detective Inspector in Carmarthenshire where he worked on investigations, performance, intelligence and serious organised crime. In 2016, Huw became part of the Regional Organised Crime Unit (Tarian) where he served as both a Detective Chief Inspector and Detective Superintendent (Head of Unit). During this time, he gained extensive and valuable experience in serious organised crime and covert investigations.
He returned to Force in 2018 as a Detective Superintendent covering investigations. He took up his post as Head of Professional standards in April 2019.
Prior to joining the police Huw attended both South Glamorgan Institute and Trinity College where he obtained a BA (Hons) and teaching qualification.
