Steve’s policing career began in November 2001 where he spent the first ten years performing uniform and CID roles in Aberystwyth. In 2012, Steve assumed the role of Detective Inspector with responsibilities for child protection, adult protection, domestic abuse and the management of offenders in the community, across Ceredigion and later in 2015 performed the role of Detective Chief Inspector for Pembrokeshire and Ceredigion. During these roles he has been responsible for the investigation of serious crime such as murder and manslaughter and is recognised as a Senior Investigating Officer by the College of Policing.
In 2017, Steve transferred to a uniform Chief Inspector role with responsibility for operational performance in Ceredigion and during this time became an accredited Tactical Firearms Commander.
In April 2019, Steve returned to the CID arena as a (Temp) Detective Superintendent based at Police HQ with responsibility for operations. In December 2019, Steve transferred on a temporary basis to the Ceredigion BCU Commander role.
Steve was promoted to Superintendent in May 2020 and became the Local Policing Area Commander for Powys.
Steve is married with two sons and in his spare time enjoys surfing.
