Request:
1) If your force has a stalking advocate in place
2) How many stalking advocates the force has, if the answer is more than one.
3) If the answer to (1) is yes, when was the advocate(s) was/were put in place
Clarification:
Question
When you refer to stalking advocate, do you mean 'in force stalking champions'?
Answer
Thank you for your message, for clarification I’m looking for information on whether the force has an Independent Stalking Advocate (ISA) to provide support to victims who come forward to report stalking offences.
The Suzy Lamplugh Trust defines Stalking Advocates as: “trained specialists who provide victims with expert advice and support during a period of crisis, often when the response from the criminal justice system or other agencies fails to address it. Stalking advocates support victims in a holistic way to help them manage and cope with their situation and to recover from abuse. They carry out risk assessments and ensure that safety plans are put in place to protect victims and those around them, including any dependents, from further harm.”
Response:
I can confirm that there is no information held by Dyfed-Powys Police due to the fact that Dyfed-Powys Police do not have any Independent Stalking Advocates in place. Therefore Questions 2 & 3 are not applicable due to the response to Question 1.
(This is a response under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and disclosed on 19/04/24)
