Request:
1. Please supply the following data (numbers) regarding Stalking Protection Orders (SPOs) for the time period 01/01/2022 – 31/01/2022 AND 01/01/2023 – 31/01/2023.
There are three numbers I’m requesting.
a) Total number of SPO applications (Made to the court)
b) Total number of SPO granted (Both full Stalking Protection Orders and Interim Stalking Protection orders)
c) Total number of SPO refused. (Both – full Stalking Protection Orders and Interim Stalking Protection orders)
2. Please supply the following data (numbers) for the time period 01/01/2022 – 31/01/2022 AND 01/01/2023 – 31/01/2023. inclusive in your force.
This is referring to the number of staking crimes recorded and the number of those which were charged to court.
a) Number of stalking offences reported
b) Number of prosecutions for stalking offences

Please note that from May 2023, Dyfed-Powys Police changed their Records Management System, however this does not affect the way records of civil orders such as SPOs are kept.
It should be noted that as a result of the systems adopted by Dyfed-Powys Police in relation to the recording of such information that the information released may or may not be accurate.
Furthermore, it should also be noted that Police forces in the United Kingdom are routinely required to provide crime statistics to government bodies and the recording criteria is set nationally. However, the systems used for recording these figures are not generic, nor are the procedures used locally in capturing the crime data. It should be noted that for these reasons this force's response to your questions should not be used for comparison purposes with any other response you may receive.
