Request:
1 - What situations requires the police to automatically carry-out a pre-attendance risk assessment?
2 - Do all welfare checks have a risk assessment (i.e. any important history available) of person, carried out prior to visiting the home of the vulnerable person (i.e. threat of suicide) to de-escalate/calm the situation and prevent any likely problems, dangers and adverse reactions from the subject?
3 - What are the police procedures when planning a welfare check at a vulnerable persons’ home (i.e. is believed to be suicidal) to prevent any unwanted/dangerous reactions by the subject?
Response 1:
I can confirm that Dyfed-Powys Police does hold the information requested, as outlined below.
The Force Control Centre dynamically risk assess each incident that comes into the Control Room on its own merit.
The incident will impact the type of checks carried out before deployment.
These can include previous calls, vulnerability of occupants, Police National Computer checks, Intelligence checks, local Police computer system checks etc.
But ALL calls will be risk assessed.
Response 2 & 3:
