Request:
When Dyfed-Powys Police receives a report through email from a member of the public in which alleges an individual is regularly drug driving and it does not concern a 'live' incident, the Force Communication Centre logs it for intelligence and it is sent to the Crime and Incident team.
Once received by the Crime and Incident Team, please can a manager from the Team explain what actions/considerations/decisions are made by Officers in the Crime and Incident Team in respect of the report and in what timescale?
Response:
I can confirm that Dyfed-Powys Police does hold the information requested, as outlined below.
Response from the Crime and Incident Hub (CIH) Team:
Actions will vary depending on the nature of the STORM (Incident Recording System) message and the information contained within it.
Officers will consider whether there is sufficient information to submit an intelligence log. If there is, an intelligence log will be submitted using force computers in line with national standards.
If there is insufficient details to submit a log, an officer may call or contact the source to obtain further information. When that information is obtained an intelligence log will be submitted using force computers in line with national standards.
An intelligence log is submitted to the FIB (Force Intelligence Bureau).
The average length of time between receiving a STORM log and submitting an intelligence log is not held/recorded.
STORM messages are reviewed by sergeants when received in the Crime Incident Hub and prioritised based on Threat Harm & Risk.
It should be noted that as a result of the systems adopted by Dyfed-Powys Police in relation to the recording of such information that the information released may or may not be accurate.
