Request
I am writing in relation to GoSafe, Operation SNAP or whatever system you have in place for the reporting by the public to you of driving offences and the outcome
- When a report is made to you, whet response do you make to the reporter when or if you take action. Do you simply say “action taken” or do you state what actual action has been taken, eg, points/fine.
- If you do not elaborate on what actual action has been taken, why, and pleased state what legislation, legal reason there is for this if any.
- Can the person reporting obtain this information if it has not been supplied.

I can confirm that Dyfed-Powys Police does not hold the information requested, however the details can be obtained as follows:
Section 21 – Information reasonably accessible by other means
Section 1 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 places two duties on public authorities. Unless exemptions apply, the first duty at Section 1(1)(a) is to confirm or deny whether the information specified in a request is held. The second duty at Section 1(1)(b) is to disclose information that has been confirmed as being held.
Where exemptions are relied upon Section 17 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 requires -Powys Police, when refusing to provide such information (because the information is exempt) to provide you the applicant with a notice which:
(a) states that fact,
(b) specifies the exemption in question and
(c) states (if that would not otherwise be apparent) why the exemption applies.
The above exemption has been applied in relation to questions 1 & 2 of this request, due to the fact that the requested information is published and can be accessed via the following hyperlinks -

The only time a person will know the exact outcome is if the matter goes to court and the person reporting may be called as a witness.
