1. Does your police force have a Police Link Officer for Deaf People (PLOD) scheme?

Response 1:
I can confirm that Dyfed-Powys Police does hold the information requested, as outlined below.
The force does not have a Police Link officer for Deaf People (PLOD) Scheme. However, the force does have some PCSO’s/Officers that are able to communicate with members of the public who are Deaf through the medium of BSL. The force does not have PLOD officers but there are PCSO’s/Officers who can communicate through the medium of BSL.
16 can communicate through the medium of BSL at different levels.

I can confirm that Dyfed-Powys Police does hold the information requested, as outlined below.
The force does not have PLOD officers but some PCSO’s/Officers/staff can communicate with a Deaf member of the public through the medium of BSL.
Total of 16 are qualified.
Broken down as follows:
1st intake:
8/8 can communicate BSL level 1 (no exam taken)
7/8 are qualified BSL level 2 and 3
1/8 qualified BSL level 4
2/8 are working towards level 4
3/8 are working towards level 6
2nd intake:
8/8 communicate level 1 (no exam taken)
7/8 are qualified level 2

I can confirm that Dyfed-Powys Police does hold the information requested, as outlined below.
In 2015 – 37 neighbourhood officers received deaf awareness training.
We have 19 officers and staff who have partaken in BSL training.

We used BSL for 6 suspect interviews.
It should be noted that as a result of the systems adopted by Dyfed-Powys Police in relation to the recording of such information that the information released may or may not be accurate.
