FOI Reference: 775/2024
Request:
Please could you provide a breakdown of all rape and other sexual offences that were recorded to have taken place in the location of a school in Dyfed Powys, for the past three years that there is data for.
Please breakdown the statistics by:
(a) Year
(b) Type of crime - rape or other sexual offence
(c) How many victims were identified for each offence (if more than 1)
(d) Whether the suspect(s) was an adult or a child (if known)
(e) Whether the victim(s) was an adult or a child
(f) The type of school the incident took place in (primary school, secondary school etc…).
NB: I appreciate that, in some cases, the exact location (or category of location) may not be included on the records. However, for the avoidance of doubt, this FOI request concerns only those crimes that are specifically recorded/ tagged as taking place in a school.

It should be noted that as a result of the systems adopted by Dyfed-Powys Police in relation to the recording of such information that the information released may or may not be accurate.
Furthermore, it should also be noted that Police forces in the United Kingdom are routinely required to provide crime statistics to government bodies and the recording criteria is set nationally. However, the systems used for recording these figures are not generic, nor are the procedures used locally in capturing the crime data. It should be noted that for these reasons this force's response to your questions should not be used for comparison purposes with any other response you may receive.
