A teenager who left four seriously injured in a crash given a 20 month suspended sentence and driving ban

Jack Hale, 19, was driving his blue Ford Fiesta when it crashed into the well-known and popular campsite in Newgale, Pembrokeshire on August 12 in 2023.

Driving at speed on the A487, Hale lost control of the vehicle, flipping and rolling, where it collided with a tent at the campsite, seriously injuring four people.

Following his guilty plea to four counts of causing serious injury by dangerous driving on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, Hale appeared at Swansea Crown Court today (Friday July 11) where he was sentenced to 20 months in a young offender’s institution, suspended for 18 months. He was also handed a two year driving ban with a requirement to pass an  extended driving test and complete 250 hours unpaid work.

HHJ Huw Rees commented how the speed Hale was driving at was 'significantly excessive'.

Police Sergeant Sara John said:

“This was a deeply traumatic incident for all the victims involved and continues to have a profound impact on them.

“Hopefully today’s sentence provides an element of closure to those affected and serves as a reminder of the consequences of dangerous driving.”
