Eight year prison sentence following vehicle stop that uncovered over £150,000 of illegal drugs.

On Friday, January 2, a local Road Policing Unit carried out a routine stop check on 43-year-old Dean Evans’ grey Seat Ateca. Both Evans and his vehicle were searched under the Misuse of Drugs Act, following his comments that officers would find ‘stuff’ in the car.

After the stop on Hoyland Road, Pembroke, Evans was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply controlled drugs after a cardboard box containing a one kilogram block of cocaine and ten half kilogram packets of herbal cannabis were found in the boot of the Seat. The street value of the drugs was well over £150,000.

The 43-year-old was charged with possession with intent to supply Class A and B drugs and pleaded guilty at Swansea Magistrates Court on Saturday January 3.

On Thursday, January 28, Evans was sentenced at Cardiff Crown Court to eight years in prison for possession with intent to supply cocaine and cannabis. 

DC Jones from Pembrokeshire’s Serious Organised Crime Unit said -
“Tackling the supply of illegal drugs is a priority for Dyfed-Powys Police and the misery that illegal drugs bring to local communities will not be tolerated.

We welcome this sentence passed to Dean Evans considering the large amount of harmful drugs that he was caught trafficking into Pembrokeshire.  

This sentence should serve as a stark warning to any others who are tempted into the illegal drugs trade in Dyfed and Powys.”
