This site is a beta, which means it's a work in progress and we'll be adding more to it over the next few weeks. Your feedback helps us make things better, so please let us know what you think.
Dyfed-Powys Police receives a large number of requests from broadcast media and production companies each year. We will consider requests relating to:
Facilitating filming of police officers and staff involves significant resources and it is important they can carry out their work with minimal disruption. Therefore, there needs to be a clear business case in terms of value to the public and a policing need for us to agree to feature.
Documentary requests are reviewed on a fortnightly basis, and we will proactively respond to requests we are interested in supporting. If you do not receive a response within eight weeks, please assume we are unable to support your request. Please note it can take up to six weeks for a request to be approved in principle.
Due to capacity, our lead-in time for any filming requiring more than an interview with an officer or staff member is currently approximately six months from date of request to first filming date.
In the event of an investigation attracting significant media interest following court proceedings, we will accept filming requests for six weeks after sentencing. These will be considered based on information contained in the request form, and a decision to participate will be made in consultation with the Senior Investigating Officer.
Requests relating to non-recent investigations will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
If you have a request relating to a documentary, please complete our documentary request form and return it by emailing [email protected]. Please include as much information as possible to allow us to fully consider your request. All filming and documentary requests must be submitted through this process. Any approaches to individuals will be re-directed to this process.
Due to capacity, we cannot consider requests from student filmmakers
Please note, there are fees and charges associated with documentary filming. These charges have been developed in line with the National Police Chiefs’ Council (NPCC) National Policing Guidelines on Charging for Police Services and the APComm (Association of Police Communicators) working group that considered the matter.
If you are a news reporter with a request for an interview with an officer or a member of staff about an ongoing or recently concluded incident or operation, please email our press desk on [email protected].
