At Montgomery Family Crisis Centre (MFCC) we offer a bespoke domestic abuse service with a trauma informed , risk-led response to each client and their families . We identify and address risk putting the necessary safety plans in place to keep them safe we also work with partner agencies to empower and protect our clients
Montgomeryshire Family Crisis Centre offers support to anyone experiencing domestic abuse regardless of their race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, national origin, disability, age, financial circumstances or beliefs.
MFCC provides emergency temporary crisis refuge accommodation for families escaping domestic abuse. We manage 4 properties. 2 are shared accommodation, The Haven for women and children and Davis House for men and children. Meadow House is a dispersed unit for 1 family, either male or female. We also have a second dispersed unit Tŷ Coed, which is located in the grounds of the existing female shared refuge, for female families who may be unable to access shared accommodation.
The Adult outreach team support clients who have experienced domestic abuse, on a 1:1 basis, across the whole of Montgomeryshire, which spans 839 square miles of mainly rural North Powys.
This bespoke support includes risk assessing, safety planning, 1:1 support with all statutory involvement and meetings, welfare meetings with tea, talk and listen, representation at Daily Discussion and MARAC, and close partnership with DAOs and the Dal i Godi IDVA Service.
The Children and Young People Outreach Team (CYP)support children and young people who are experiencing or have been affected by domestic abuse, either within their family or in their own relationship. They provide 1:1 meetings, which usually take place in the young person’s education setting, risk assessing, safety planning, and therapeutic play with time to talk, Emotional Freedom Technique and group programmes.
The S.T.A.R clubs and groups are a fun and relaxed, yet safe and confidential environment which provides children and young people with the opportunity to explore their feelings around domestic abuse. Topics include understanding domestic abuse, feelings, safety, anger, healthy relationships and resilience.
MFCC also offer specialist domestic abuse programmes for anyone affected by or experiencing domestic abuse, either in group or 1:1: These include, The Freedom Programme The Recovery tool kit and The Own My Life course which helps women regain ownership of their own lives after they have been subjected to violence / abuse.
We offer The Compass Programme which provides an opportunity for male victims to meet and talk in a safe space about their experiences. It aims to help improve mental well-being and an opportunity to understand what has happened.
We also offer Break4Change which is a programme supporting parents/carers and young people in building healthy relationships and responds to the issue of child to parent abuse and Adult and Children and Young People Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs).
