Request:

Can you please provide the details of the number of Domestic Abuse Victims reporting to your Police Authority broken down as follows:

For the period 1st January 2022 to 31st December 2022 inclusive by Age, Ethnic Origin and Gender.

For ease of reference, please incorporate a summary total by Age, Ethnic Origin and Gender both Force Wide and by Police Division.

I can confirm that Dyfed-Powys Police does hold the information requested, the details of which are as follows:

Please note: The information outlined below is not fully accurate as there a number of instances in which the age, ethnicity and/or gender of the victim as well as the division has been classed as unknown (i.e. where that field has been left blank/unpopulated or in terms of age where a zero or an incorrect age has been populated on the system utilised i.e. -1). To fully and accurately answer this request would require reviewing all records in which ‘unknown’ has been outlined to ascertain the relevant age, ethnicity, gender and/or division where applicable (if recorded) which would result in the application of a Section 12 exemption as it would exceed the 18 time limit/threshold.

It should be noted that owing to the systems adopted by Dyfed-Powys Police in relation to the recording of such matters the information provided may or may not be accurate. Police Forces in the United Kingdom are routinely required to provide crime statistics to government bodies and the recoding criteria is set nationally.  However, the systems used for recording these figures are not generic, nor are the procedures used locally in capturing the data.  It should be noted that for these reasons this Force’s response to your questions should not be used for comparison purposes with any other response you may receive.
