Request:
1) This then begs the question, is one of the police complaint systems purpose’s, to check/investigate any accusations of ‘Evidential Procedures’ not being carried out correctly (i.e. an officer wrongly stating there were no offences identified when there were and stating a vehicle was fully insured and taxed, when it was not)?
2) If the police complaints system does not automatically do this, is there any documentation that states this and why it doesn’t, as surely this should be one of its main purposes?

Response:
As previously disclosed in FOI request 827/2024:-
Every complaint received from a member of the public is logged, assessed and handled in a reasonable and proportionate manner in accordance with the IOPC Statutory Guidance on Handling Complaints. This applies to every complaint regardless of the circumstances.
The most common category of police complaint is “Delivery of duties and services”. Any allegation of an officer making an incorrect or false statement would fall under the category “Evidential procedures” which accounts for 1% of police complaints.
