Cars racing through Newtown 35/24

Request:

1. How many cars were booked in 2023 for racing loudly through Newtown (not outside the town and not on the bypass)?

2. How many cars have been booked in Newtown for noise nuisance? How many loud exhausts have been confiscated? 

Clarification 1:

With regards to Q2, Do you wish to know the number of individuals stopped by an officer for exhaust related offences.  If this is the case then please can you specify which offence you would like figures for e.g. Use Vehicle with no silencer fitted, use vehicle to cause unnecessary noise etc?

I would like to know how many drivers have been booked in Newtown for creating unnecessary noise. 

Clarification 2:

Do you wish to know the number of individuals stopped by an officer and issued with a conditional offer for the offence of creating unnecessary noise?

I would simply like to know what actual, material penalties have been imposed upon noise-nuisance drivers in Newtown within the past year --- be it in the form of fines, the confiscation of noisy exhausts, etc.. 

Being "issued with a conditional offer" is not a penalty, so no, that would not be of interest to me. 

Clarification 3:

We note that you have stated that a conditional offer is not a penalty.  A conditional offer does include a £50 fine so do you wish to have this information? 

Alternatively do you  wish to know the number of individuals stopped by an officer and found guilty at court?

If a fine is involved, then yes, I wish to have this information --- so, yes if they are fined £50, then I would like to know. 

And yes, I'd also like to know how many have been found guilty at court.

I can confirm that Dyfed-Powys Police does hold the information requested, as outlined below.

In 2023, in relation to the offences requested, the total number of individuals issued with a conditional offer is 0.  The number of individuals found guilty at court is 0.

It should be noted that as a result of the systems adopted by Dyfed-Powys Police in relation to the recording of such information that the information released may or may not be accurate.

Furthermore, it should also be noted that Police forces in the United Kingdom are routinely required to provide crime statistics to government bodies and the recording criteria is set nationally. However, the systems used for recording these figures are not generic, nor are the procedures used locally in capturing the crime data. It should be noted that for these reasons this force's response to your questions should not be used for comparison purposes with any other response you may receive.
