Request 1 - 4:

1. Please state how many Registered Sex Offenders (Category 1) your force had responsibility for as at 1.1.24?
2. How many of these RSOs (Category 1) referred to in Question 1 did you NOT have an up-to-date address for in that you did NOT know where they were living?
3. How many of the ‘missing’ RSOs (Category 1) referred to in Question 2 are (a) believed to have moved and be living abroad, or (b) thought to have No Fixed Address and may be homeless.
4. Of those ‘missing’ RSOs (Category 1) referred to in Question 2 how many were designated as being managed at (i) Level 1, (ii) Level 2 and (iii) Level 3?

Response 1:

I can confirm that Dyfed-Powys Police does hold the information requested, as outlined below.

As at 25/08/2024 Dyfed Powys Police manage 848 Registered Sex Offenders.

216 are in Custody.

632 are in within the community.

Within these numbers some are jointly managed with Probation and some are managed solely by Police.

Please note:-

RSOs Abroad

Registered Sex Offenders are not subject to Sex Offender Notification Requirements when they are outside of the UK. Therefore, they are not required to notify Police of their address once outside of the UK. If they return into the UK they become subject to Notification Requirements.

I can confirm that Dyfed-Powys Police does hold the information requested, as outlined below.

As at 09/09/2024 there are:-

RSOs – Deported = 17 (All Level 1)

RSOs – Living Abroad = 14 (All Level 1)

RSOs - Unknown whereabouts = 2 (Level 1)

RSOs – NFA (Homeless) = 4 (3 – Level 1 and 1 – Level 2)

Please note:-

RSOs who are homeless are required to attend a Police Station on a weekly basis to register every week whilst they are homeless.                                              

It should be noted that as a result of the systems adopted by Dyfed-Powys Police in relation to the recording of such information that the information released may or may not be accurate.
