Request:

1. Under the Freedom of Information Act, would you be able to provide us with the number of cases in your area that have involved more than two people convicted of child sexual exploitation offences that have involved contact rather than just indecent images of children over the last 20 years? If possible can you provide these broken down by year?
2. Could you also provide names of significant operations in your area that have sought to bring people to justice for these types of crimes (equivalents of Stovewood, Bullfinch or Sanctuary in England) and any numbers for convictions secured from these investigations – again in the last 20 years?

Clarification: 2018 data onwards

Response 1:

I can confirm that there is no information held by Dyfed-Powys Police due to the fact that there were zero (0) cases in the Dyfed-Powys Police area that have involved more than two people convicted of child sexual exploitation offences that have involved contact rather than just indecent images of children since 2018.

Response 2:

I can confirm that Dyfed-Powys Police does hold the information requested, as outlined below.

It should be noted that as a result of the systems adopted by Dyfed-Powys Police in relation to the recording of such information that the information released may or may not be accurate.

Furthermore, it should also be noted that Police forces in the United Kingdom are routinely required to provide crime statistics to government bodies and the recording criteria is set nationally. However, the systems used for recording these figures are not generic, nor are the procedures used locally in capturing the crime data. It should be noted that for these reasons this force's response to your questions should not be used for comparison purposes with any other response you may receive.
