Request:
- The following requests relate to crime outcome data for sexual offences and of which, rape offences investigated by your Force.
- We are not seeking information that enables identification of any victims or suspects, only the specific data requested. If such data cannot be provided, please confirm whether or not it exists.
- For these offence types, we request data in relation to timeliness, specifically, we are seeking data on the length of time between the victim’s report to the Police and the date an outcome was assigned by the Police.
- We would like this data in respect of the following time periods: (1) April 2014 to March 2015, (2) April 2015 to March 2016, (3) April 2016 to March 2017, (4) April 2017 to March 2018, (5) April 2018 to March 2019, (6) April 2019 to March 2020, (7) April 2020 to March 2021, (8) April 2021 to March 2022, (9) April 2022 to March 2023, (10) April 2023 to March 2024 (11) April 2024-March 2025
- We ask that you provide the total number of outcomes recorded for the period (sexual offences and of which rape) as well as the number of outcomes recorded in that period where the date the victim reported, to the date the Police outcome was recorded falls into the below time frames:

Clarification Q:
- Are you referring to incidents or crimes? Please note an incident is different from a crime. An incident is a record of contact made to a police force by an individual/member of public (usually via a 999 or 101 call) and a crime is where the threshold has been met for the police force to deem that a criminal offence has occurred as defined by law.
- Are you referring to those charged to court or found guilty at court?
Clarification A:
1: Crimes not incidents
2: We do not refer to court outcomes, by outcome, we mean the Police outcome, for example OC15 etc or a charging decision. Court outcomes do not form part of our request.

I can confirm that Dyfed-Powys Police does hold the information requested, as outlined below.
2018/19: 1396 sexual offence outcomes finalised (including rape outcomes finalised)
2019/20: 1500 sexual offence outcomes finalised (including 491 rape outcomes finalised)
2020/21: 1244 sexual offence outcomes finalised (including 369 rape outcomes finalised)
2021/22: 1546 sexual offence outcomes finalised (including 478 rape outcomes finalised)
2022/23: 1639 sexual offence outcomes finalised (including 497 rape outcomes finalised)
2023/24: 1446 sexual offence outcomes finalised (including 523 rape outcomes finalised)
2024/25: 1690 sexual offence outcomes were finalised (including 504 rape outcomes finalised)

I can confirm that Dyfed-Powys Police does hold not hold all of the information requested, as outlined below.
Unfortunately, the data is not recorded in a way that would enable us to answer this question, we can only provide data on the current picture:
0 ongoing sexual offence investigations meet the criteria of greater than 3 years since reported.
It should be noted that as a result of the systems adopted by Dyfed-Powys Police in relation to the recording of such information that the information released may or may not be accurate.
Furthermore, it should also be noted that Police forces in the United Kingdom are routinely required to provide crime statistics to government bodies and the recording criteria is set nationally. However, the systems used for recording these figures are not generic, nor are the procedures used locally in capturing the crime data. It should be noted that for these reasons this force's response to your questions should not be used for comparison purposes with any other response you may receive.
