Request:

I am writing to request information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 regarding arrests and charges under the Vagrancy Act 1824.

1. Arrests:

Total number of people arrested under the Vagrancy Act 1824 during the period:

    * 1 April 2022 - 31 March 2023

    * 1 April 2023 - 31 March 2024

    * 1 April 2024 - 31 March 2025

    * 22 February 2022 - most recent date available For each, please provide the reasons for arrest and the frequency of each reason.

2. Charges:

Total number of people charged under the Vagrancy Act 1824 during the period:

    * 1 April 2022 - 31 March 2023

    * 1 April 2023 - 31 March 2024

    * 1 April 2024 - 31 March 2025

    * 22 February 2022 - most recent date available For each, please provide the subject of the charges and the frequency of each charge.

I can confirm that Dyfed-Powys Police does hold the information requested, as outlined below.

1 April 2022 - 31 March 2023: 6

1 April 2023 - 31 March 2024: 1

1 April 2024 - 31 March 2025: 3

I can confirm that Dyfed-Powys Police does hold the information requested, as outlined below.

1 April 2022 - 31 March 2023: 1 Charged and Remanded to Cells

1 April 2023 - 31 March 2024: 0

1 April 2024 - 31 March 2025: 0                                               

It should be noted that as a result of the systems adopted by Dyfed-Powys Police in relation to the recording of such information that the information released may or may not be accurate.

Furthermore, it should also be noted that Police forces in the United Kingdom are routinely required to provide crime statistics to government bodies and the recording criteria is set nationally. However, the systems used for recording these figures are not generic, nor are the procedures used locally in capturing the crime data. It should be noted that for these reasons this force's response to your questions should not be used for comparison purposes with any other response you may receive.
