Request 1 - 6:
This request relates only to administrative offence codes, crime-recording classifications, and recording guidance.
No case-specific information, personal data, or investigative material is requested.
- Offence codes – Dangerous Dogs Act 1991, Section 1 Please provide the offence code(s), classification(s), or recording categories used by your force to record the following:
a) Possession or custody of a prohibited type dog (Dangerous Dogs Act 1991, s1(3))
b) Suspected prohibited type dog (prior to any confirmation)
c) Confirmed prohibited type dog, if recorded separately
d) Seizure of a dog believed to be a prohibited type (including seizures under s5 or PACE powers)
e) Breeding, selling, exchanging, advertising, or gifting a prohibited type (s1(7)) If Section 1 matters are not recorded as notifiable crimes or are not recorded on your crime system, please state this clearly.

a) Dog dangerously out of control causing injury

I can confirm that Dyfed-Powys Police does hold the information requested, as outlined below.
a) HO Offence code 111/17 – Possession, without exemption of a Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa or other designated fighting dog
b) to d) No information held.
e) HO offence code 111/13 Selling, exchanging, offering, advertising, or exposing for sale a fighting dog
The above HO offence codes are not notifiable offences, but would be recorded on PND

There are no specific codes or outcome codes that are used to record the following within an occurrence report.
- Destruction orders (section 4)
- Destruction without the owner present (Section 4B)
- Exemption orders (Section 4a)
- Voluntary surrender or disclaimer.
These outcomes are managed and recorded within the relevant occurrence. They are not captured through distinct or searchable codes within the crime recording system.

The crime recording system uses one code for the relevant Section 1 prohibited dogs and does not differentiate between suspected and confirmed status by way of separate codes. In other words the same code is applied irrespective of whether the dog is initially suspected or later confirmed.
