From all arrests in the calendar year 2024 recorded by Dyfed-Powys Police, where either of the following offences is recorded on the custody record (whether as the main or a secondary offence):
- Section 127(1) Communications Act 2003
- Section 1 Malicious Communications Act 1988
please select up to 40 arrests using a neutral method (for example, a simple random selection or, if that is not practicable, the first 40 eligible arrests by date in 2024).
For each arrest in that sample, please provide:
I am not seeking any direct identifiers. In particular, I do not require:
- Names of suspects, victims or witnesses
- Exact addresses or postcodes
- Dates of birth
- Exact times of day

POLICE HAVE RECEIVED A CALL FROM A MEMBER OF PUBLIC STATING THAT A PERSON HAS BEEN SEEN SHOUTING IN THE STREET. FOLLOWING THIS, POLICE HAVE RECEIVED A CALL FROM A DIFFERENT CALLER, IN WHICH THEY STATED THE DETAINED PERSON(DP) WAS NOT SURE WHETHER TO CARRY ON DRINKING OR CAUSE HARM TO THEMSELF OR OTHERS. A THIRD CALL WAS THEN RECEIVED FROM THE DP STATING THAT THEY WERE IN POSSESSION OF A KNIFE AND DIDN'T WANT TO HARM THEMSELF. DP WAS STOP SEARCHED, NO KNIFE FOUND. |

WHEN OFFICERS HAVE ATTENDED THE LOCATION THE DP HAS DENIED CALLING THE AMBULANCE AND STATED THEY DIDN'T NEED EMERGENCY SERVICES. OFFICERS HAVE RUNG THE NUMBER PASSED BY AMBULANCE SERVICE AT WHICH POINT THE DP HAS ANSWERED THE PHONE. DP WAS THEN ARRESTED FOR MISUSE OF 999 SYSTEMS. ON ARRIVAL TO HOSPITAL THE DP HAS STOOD UP IN THE REAR OF THE MARKED POLICE CAGE VAN AND URINATED. FOLLOWING THIS HE HAS BEEN ARRESTED FOR CRIMINAL DAMAGE. |

DP REFUSED TO ATTEND HOSPITAL AND ENGAGE WITH MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES. DP WAS ARRESTED FOR WASTING POLICE TIME. |

THE DP HAS THEN MADE A FURTHER CALL TO THE AMBULANCE SERVICE VIA THE 999 SYSTEM STATING THAT THERE WAS AN UNRESPONSIVE CHILD IN THE PROPERTY IN AN APPARENT ATTEMPT TO GET OFFICERS TO FORCE ENTRY DUE TO LOST KEYS. ONCE AGAIN THE DP WAS ABUSIVE TO AMBULANCE CONTROL ROOM STAFF. POLICE HAVE ATTENDED AND THE DP WAS NOT PRESENT ON ARRIVAL. DP RETURNED TO THE PREMISES A SHORT TIME LATER, AND WAS HEAVILY INTOXICATED AND HAS BEEN ARRESTED FOR MISUSING THE 999 SYSTEM. |
