Request:

1. How many reports of cyberbullying or other online harassment has occurred in the last three years involving people under the age of 18 in Ceredigion? If this timeline is not possible to obtain, then in the most recent full year.
2. Can you also tell me how many incidences of cyberbullying or other online harassment has led to police intervention in schools in Ceredigion, within the same timeframe as above?
3. Please break the data down by crime type.

1. When you state " reports" are you referring to 101/999 calls received?

3. Are you referring to incidents or crimes? Please note an incident is different from a crime.  An incident is a record of contact made to a police force by an individual/member of public (usually via a 999 or 101 call) and a crime is where the threshold has been met for the police force to deem that a criminal offence has occurred as defined by law.

If it’s possible to show both, please do. If not then just the numbers of incidents.

I can confirm that Dyfed-Powys Police does hold the information requested, as outlined below.

Nominals who were identified as under 18 at the time of the offence – 65

Victims who were identified as under 18 at the time of the offence – 109

I can confirm that there is no information held by Dyfed-Powys Police due to the fact that this information is not recorded by Dyfed-Powys Police.

All crimes reported are under the Home Office Crime category of Stalking and Harassment, a further description of the crimes recorded are in the table below.

• Data in early 2023 (Jan-April) does not include a description of the offence.

it should also be noted that Police forces in the United Kingdom are routinely required to provide crime statistics to government bodies and the recording criteria is set nationally. However, the systems used for recording these figures are not generic, nor are the procedures used locally in capturing the crime data.
