Request:
1. To clarify : this suggests that Dyfed Powys Police is carrying out prosecutorial activities with regards to speeding offences without any contractual or basic integrity data for the camera network
Given the unusual situation here, in order to properly discharge Dyfed Powys Police of its section 16 FOIA duties, could you please therefore clarify whether :
(a) this information is held by another public authority known to Dyfed Powys Police;
(b) in the absence of being held by another public authority known to Dyfed Powys Police, then Dyfed Powys Police maintains its current position per the response; and
(c) confirm whether or not Dyfed Powys does or does not issue notices for speeding offences or prepare prosecution packages for speeding offences for members of the public? If it does not conduct such prosecutorial activities, could you please identify the police force in Wales that is carrying out enforcement activities from cameras based in the geographical jurisdictional footprint of Dyfed Powys Police
Response:
I can confirm that Dyfed-Powys Police does hold the information requested, as outlined below.
All speed camera related cases are dealt with by the Safety Camera Partnership in Pontypridd. The Safety Camera Partnership are part of South Wales Police. South Wales Police deal with the processing of these files and will send out course offers, NIP’s and Fixed Penalty Offers.
If the person does not comply with their fixed penalty notice or course offer then the matter is referred to court. This paperwork is then allocated to Dyfed Powys who then process the file for court.
