1. Training Provision (as at the date of this request)
a) Whether police officers and/or police staff receive training relating to the identification and recording of:
- Hate crime
- Non-Crime Hate Incidents (NCHI)
b) If such training is provided, please indicate:
- Whether the training is mandatory or optional
- Whether it forms part of:
- The format of the training (e.g. classroom-based, online module, blended learning, part of initial police learning and development programme)
c) If available, please state:
- The approximate duration of the training (e.g. number of hours), and
- The date the current training package was last updated or reviewed.
2. Quality Assurance
a) Whether your force has internal processes for reviewing, auditing, or supervising hate crime or NCHI recording decisions.
b) If so, please briefly describe the nature of these processes (e.g. supervisory review, dip sampling, internal audit, dedicated hate crime lead).

I can confirm that Dyfed-Powys Police does hold the information requested, the details of which are as follows:
1. Training provision:
1a:
Police Officers and relevant police staff receive training on the identification, recording and management of hate crime and Non-Crime Hate Incidents in line with the College of Policing guidance and the National Police Chiefs’ Council Hate Crime Operational Guidance.
1b:
Training relating to hate crime and non-crime hate incidents is mandatory for police officers and relevant operational staff. It forms part of both initial training and refresher training. Training is delivered through a blended learning approach, which may include:
1c:
Hate crime and Non-Crime Hate incident training forms part of broader vulnerability and equality training. The specific duration varies depending on the programme but typically ranges from 1-3 hours within initial training modules, with additional refresher inputs delivered periodically.
Training content is reviewed periodically to ensure alignment with guidance issued by the College of Policing and national policy updates.
2. Quality Assurance
2a:
C-Hate category of STORM form part of the Crime Recording risk-based audit schedule. Audits are conducted within the 2025-26 audit for Q2 and Q4.
Forces are waiting for recording guidance from the Home Office in relation to the recording practices of NCHI.
2b:
100% audit of C-Hate STORM calls are conducted in Q2 & Q4 of 2025-26 audit schedule and will feature in the forthcoming 2026-27 schedule.
