Role Purpose Under the direction of the Force Principal Analyst, manage, supervise and co-ordinate the FIB Intelligence Analysts/Researchers in order to provide tactical and operational analytical capability to the Force and mitigate threat, harm and risk. To be responsible for the continued professional development and performance of their team, along with overseeing the quality assurance of analytical products. To support the development and continued improvement to systems and processes (including IT-based solutions) that impact upon the intelligence and analytical function within the Force. They also need to be capable of carrying out all responsibilities of an Intelligence analyst. Role Specific Tasks 1. To motivate, develop and performance manage a team of analysts to increase their capability, ensure they are able to work effectively and provide a service that meets and complies with appropriate legislation, authorised professional practice, policies and procedures. Investigate new leadership strategies and apply these to working practices. 2. Keep up to date with guidance on conducting Continuous Professional Development (CPD) and other performance and development related management such as work-based assessments. 3. Assess personal requirements of customers and provide adequate support, advice and guidance. Assist on complex cases, carrying out tasks as directed by supervising practitioner and providing advice and guidance. 4. To provide a point of expertise in intelligence analysis within Dyfed-Powys Police, encouraging the use of relevant methodologies and spread of good practice. 5. Co-ordinate and identify the training requirements for analysts. Coach, mentor and perform internal training when required in order to support the learning and development of analyst, also ensure they are supported by appropriate IT systems and processes. 6. To work independently, providing line management support to analysts across the Force, reviewing their work to ensure integrity, quality control and timeliness. Ensuring best use of appropriate sources, analytical techniques, tools and technology, providing quality inferences and recommendations which are customer focused. Maintain operational effectiveness by seeking feedback regarding the effectiveness of the analysis product with key stakeholders, customers and the wider organisation. 7. Manage and coordinate the work of intelligence analysts and authorise work requests in order to ensure that resources are directed in the most appropriate and effective way to support relevant priorities and areas. 8. To develop analytical techniques and processes and maintain awareness of innovation within intelligence to ensure implementation of latest techniques and tactics, best practice, and information relevant to the role, including advances in technologies. 9. Deputise for the Head of Crime and Intelligence Analysis at national and regional meetings, also force level meetings presenting information, making recommendations and authorising or negotiating tasks. 10. To deal frequently with confidential and sensitive information and where necessary attend court and give evidence. 11. Any other duties as directed by the Supervisory Officer commensurate with the post and salary grading or that of a similar or lesser graded post. Role Generic Tasks 12. To deliver advice and guidance on complex issues to the point of resolution. 13. To be accountable for service delivery through effective tasking and co-ordination processes. 14. To lead projects as directed by Senior Managers. 15. To provide day to day line management of employees, including the proactive management of workplace health and wellbeing. 16. To deal with employee conduct, performance and attendance matters in adherence to Force policy. 17. To effectively analyse performance of the work area, utilising continuous improvement techniques to improve and develop services. 18. To oversee specific budgets as designated ensuring expenditure is monitored. 19. To comply and act in accordance with relevant legislation, Dyfed-Powys Police Policies and protocols, including Code of Ethics, Development Assessment Profile (DAP), Equal Opportunities, Health & Safety, Management of Police Information, Data Protection and Information Security.
