Offences at Sports direct/ JD Sports 101/2022

Request:

Please state how many of the following crimes were alleged to have occurred and recorded by your force as happening in Sports Direct and JD Sports shops:

Assault offences to include all assault offences 

5D -  Assault with intent to cause serious harm

8N -  Assault with injury

8P -  Racially or religiously aggravated assault with injury

105A - Assault without injury

105B -  Racially or religiously aggravated assault without injury  

For the calendar years:

(i) 2019, (ii) 2020 and (iii) 2021.

Please note I am only interested in assaults which involved members of the public assaulting employees of Sports Direct or JD Sports within store premises.

The data should be broken down by year and by whether the assault happened in Sports Direct or JD Sports.

In addition, please provide me with a summary from the crime report notes/modus operandi (MO) for the five most recent cases. I understand these will have to be redacted to remove private information.

I can confirm that Dyfed-Powys Police does hold the information requested, as outlined below.

Please note: Although it was clarified that the request relates to incidents, a list of crime codes were also provided therefore this would refer to crimes not incidents. Crime codes are not searchable on the incident database as a crime code would not be applied at the point of an incident being recorded. A crime code would be applied once it is established that a crime has occurred and is then recorded on the crime database. In light of this, the below data provided relates to crimes recorded, not incidents recorded.

It should be noted that as a result of the systems adopted by Dyfed-Powys Police in relation to the recording of such information that the information released may or may not be accurate.

Furthermore, it should also be noted that Police forces in the United Kingdom are routinely required to provide crime statistics to government bodies and the recording criteria is set nationally. However, the systems used for recording these figures are not generic, nor are the procedures used locally in capturing the crime data. It should be noted that for these reasons this force's response to your questions should not be used for comparison purposes with any other response you may receive.
