Request:
Good morning I would like to enquire whether the PCSOs in the Dyfed-Powys Police Force have the power to issue Fixed Penalty Notices in respect of offences of dog fouling. If so do they actively undertake this duty or is it discouraged and left to the Enforcement Officers of the Local Authority to pursue this.
Response:
I can confirm that Dyfed-Powys Police does hold the information requested and have been advised the following by the relevant department:
PCSO’s in Dyfed-Powys Police still hold the power to report for dog fouling offences.
In relation to the question around discouragement. We have never discouraged DPP PCSO’s but they are aware that the responsibility primarily sits with the local authority enforcement officers.
This is a response under the Freedom of Information Act and disclosed on the 6st June 2022.
