Request:

Under the FOIA I would like to know where & who you get your police dogs from?

I would also like to know if those people have any connection to any hunting with hounds group?

Response:

I can confirm that Dyfed-Powys Police does hold the information requested, the details of which are as follows:

We obtain our dogs from a variety of licensed breeders who provide working dogs for police forces throughout the UK. We are also open to receiving dogs on a trial basis from owners/members of the public following a trial. If these dogs exhibit the necessary behaviours then we would accept them as a donation.

We are not aware of any affiliation to any hunting groups from any of our licensed breeders.

It should be noted that owing to the systems adopted by Dyfed-Powys Police in relation to the recording of such matters the information provided may or may not be accurate.
